My Story and Why I Love Metal

Personal Profile

My first taste of hard hitting music and screaming guitars came to me when I was 8 years old. I remember it so clearly as if it was yesterday. My sisters took me to see the Stampeders, a Canadian Country Rock band and I was in awe. â€‹The stood on stage like Gods and took control of the crowd, I didn't move from my seat once. But the one song that blew me away and I couldn't get enough of was Wild Eyes, The power of the drums and the guitars and the commanding vocals drew me in and left me wanting more.

I searched and searched for that rush again. Being 8 in the late seventies wasn't an easy task, all we had was am radio and only a few channels on tv. Then, one glorious day I not only heard but saw, on a variety tv show, was what I was searching for. The Camera panned over to them, the boots and the outfits they were wearing and the make up. There they were The Demon, The Star Child, The Cat and Space Ace. KISS!! I was glued to that black and white tv set just drinking in the sound of Detroit Rock City and when the song was over I was saddened.

Later that year my mom and dad bought me a record player and my oldest sister gave me my first album, KISS Destroyer. I played that album day and night. But I was hungry for more. So I worked harder at my chores and offered to do more to get an allowance. With that allowance I went to the local record store and bought Kiss Double Platinum and from there a metal head was born. I tried every style of metal in the late 70s and all of the 80s, my record collection grew and grew with the likes of Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Venom and so much more until one day one album set me on my ass and I hung to every lyric. His voice made me want to scream with delight. The band in question Was Black Sabbath and the album, HEAVEN AND HELL. Ronnie James Dio's vocal spoke to me and made my body tense with the subtlety and intensity of his voice. I had found my Metal God.

I now write a blog on the Metal bands I like and dislike you may agree with me, you may not but I hope one and all enjoy taking their time in reading and maybe watching some videos.
