Nightwish hails from Finland and formed in 1996 with their debut album Angels Fall First arriving in 1997. This was the beginning of female fronted Symphonic Metal's popularity. The grace and operatic vocals of Tarja Turunen captivating the metal community and bringing life to this wonderful genre of music. Tuomas Holopainen had a vision and he brought it to a wondrous light we all fell in love with.

The Debut single The Carpenter hit 3rd on the finish charts. They refined their sound on the next album Oceanborn in 1998 and released Sacrament of Wilderness as the first single. A more metal sound and Tarja's vocal range being shown. Topping Finlands charts at #1 and getting better year after year. Tarja's rein of female symphonic vocalists and Nightwish Reining supreme with the release of their 3rd album Wishmaster and the singles Dead Boys Poem and Wishmaster (this song is what made me fall in love with them) solidified. Tarja Kept us in awe with Nemo and Wish I had an Angel.

Tragically Tarja left the band in 2005 which was a sad day for a lot of Nightwish fans and many had reservations of Anette Olzon taking her place. Anette had a more grittier secular sound and not the refined opera sound. But Anette surprised us all when Dark Passion Play debuted with the single Bye Bye Beautiful. Then the next album, was Anette's second and last Imaginarium came the single Storytime.

After Anette's departure came Floor Jansen and in my opinion became the voice Nightwish never knew they needed. With Nightwish and Floor's live performances blowing away all types of music lovers. They have enraptured Country, Pop and Classical fans world wide. The performance that no one can get enough of is Ghost Love Score, I personally feel Floor is the perfect replacement and has a more angelic sound than Tarja and makes past Nightwish songs her own.

Now we wait for another album and have been waiting since the release of

Endless Forms Most Beautiful in 2015 with the single Élan
