Ronnie James Dio

What can I say about this Metal Legend?? Alot!! When I first heard his voice it was on Black Sabbaths Heaven and Hell album. I was hooked from the first lyric to the end lyric on B side. The strength and power in is voice was phenomenal. Neon Knights hit the ear drums like a freight train, the passion in Heaven and Hell and the beauty of Children of the Sea, all were perfect. This was one album I had to buy second and third copies of because I played it so much. He had a nice run with Black Sabbath, Mob Rules, Live Evil and Dehumanizer, and then it ended. When I heard Ronnie left Sabbath I was crushed. How was I going to hear more of his amazing voice? Where was he going to next? Then it happened, DIO Holy Diver was released! I ran to my local record store and waited for their new shipment of albums to come in. I paced like I was a new father. When it did come in I couldn't wait for them to shelve the record I bought it as soon as it came out of the box. I ran home and threw it on my record player and pow I started head banging. Stand up and Shout, Holy Diver I just couldn't stop by the time Shame on the Night ended I was covered in sweat.

Ronnie James Dio has been on a long road of bands starting with Elf, Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Dio and Heaven and Hell. He was an inspiration to many and a joy to listen to and watch on stage. He was short but had the voice of a giant and commanded an audience with ease and flair. People who saw him live who weren't Metal fans soon turned into a Dio minion. With all that in his belt, tragedy struck, he was diagnosed with stomach cancer in 2009 and in 2010 May 16 he sadly passed away. I was quite saddened on his passing knowing I would never witness another concert nor would I ever eventually meet him. But I can say he blessed my life with his wonderful vocals.
